Why We Give

Giving is Worship

Giving is an expression of obedience, but also gratitude, trust, and increasing joy.

When we honor God with our giving, we acknowledge He is our source and has promised to take care of us.

"God loves a cheerful giver."
2 Corinthians 9:7

Giving Grows our Faith

Like prayer, reading our Bible, and fasting, giving is a spiritual discipline.

When we give, we fall more in love with Christ and develop a hunger to see more people meet Jesus.

"For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also." Matthew 6:21

Giving Supports the Mission

When we become a follower of Jesus, we become "recruited to the cause."

Christians should desire to financially support the work, and ministry costs, of making disciples-both locally and globally.

"Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirt." Matthew 28:19

FAQ's

WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN TITHES AND OFFERINGS?

The tithe is the first 10% of your income that God calls you to give to your local church (Malachi 3:10). An offering is any money you choose to give above and beyond your tithe. Tithing reflects our obedience to God and faith in His provision. Giving an offering reflects our heart of generosity and desire to fulfill the Great Commission. Giving of tithes and offerings are NOT prerequisites to salvation. However, giving does grow our faith and allows our church to be generous.

Tithes and offerings can be given to the ‘General Fund.’ Corporately, Cross Assembly gives 10% all of ‘General Fund’ receipts to support global and local missions. In 2022, Cross Assembly gave over $1.9 million to missions.

Financial Accountability

Cross Assembly is accredited by the Evangelical Council for Financial Accountability (ECFA) which requires high standards of Biblical accountability, board governance, financial transparency and oversight, and proper stewardship of charity resources.

The apostle Paul in 2 Corinthians 8:21 (NIV) clearly states: "For we are taking pains to do what is right, not only in the eyes of the Lord but also in the eyes of men." As the New American Standard puts it in verses 20 and 21: "taking precaution that no one should discredit us in our administration of this generous gift, for we have regard for what is honorable, not only in the sight of the Lord, but also in the sight of men.”
